How Do We Comfort?
By Deb Stewart
Did God really create us with perfection in mind? I believe He did, but He also gave us the freedom to choose between good and evil. And that’s where it gets complicated. Yet, with every choice we make and every new experience, we can learn a little bit more about God’s intentions for our lives. Can you imagine the person you would be if you had no sin in your life? Or how about another person you know – anyone at all? Use your imagination and do the math:

P = Person
(P – Anger) + (P + Kindness) + (P – Selfishness) + (P + Generosity) +
(P – Envy) + (P + Gratitude) + (P – Hate) + (P + Love) +
(P – Laziness) + (P + Enthusiasm) + (P – Anxiety) + (P + Patience) +
(P – Excess Indulgence) + (P + Temperance) +
(P – Lust) + (P + Self Control) + (P – Greed) + (P + Generosity) +
(P – Vengeance) + (P + Forgiveness) + (P – Pride) + (P + Humility)
= Awesome Person!!!

Jesus our Jubilee
This is the time of year as we approach the Christmas season, we celebrate the birth of our Savior, but we mustn’t loose sight of the reason for His coming. He came to restore mankind to the Father. He came to destroy the works of the devil. He came to give life, and give it more abundantly. He came to give us eternal life. He came to forgive us our debts. 1Jn:3:8, Jn:10:10. . . In response to WAKE UP CHURCH!!!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tiPdSS1vLzQ#

It seems like we seek God to comfort us, but when there are expectations of us that take us out of our comfort zone we cave in. God is Sovereign! He is our Creator! We can’t change Him into what we want Him to be or pick and choose what we want to “get” from Him. . . . To read the rest of this article and/or comment on it click this link

The Cutting Edge of Friendship
By: Martin Murphy
True friends are scarce. The old cynic who went about in broad daylight with a lighted lantern in search of a friend would have difficulty in finding a true friend. It has often been said: “I went out to find a friend, but could not find one there. I went out to be a friend and friends were everywhere.” How does the Bible relate the concept of friendship? The Bible is as up to date as the newspaper. . . . . . To read the rest of this article and/or comment on it click this link

Fighting For His Life
By: Bette Dowdell

(Excerpted from the author’s book, On We March: A memoir of growing up in The Salvation Army)

The Salvation Army included Social Service Centers, or Socials, residential rehabilitation centers for alcoholics. (Socials, now called Adult Rehabilitation Centers, or ARCs, are the part of the Army that picks up donations and sells them in their thrift stores.) Residents typically came to the Social from long years of addiction. If they stayed sober long enough to come and request help, they could join the program, which included a place to stay, regular meals, clothing, medical care, Christian AA meetings, counseling and a job. Their work gave them an income and also . . . . . . To read the rest of this article and/or comment on it click this link

Giving Up Self

By: Star Ferdinand

Not that I have already obtained, or am already made perfect; but I press on, if it is so that I may take hold of that for which also I was taken hold of by Christ Jesus. Brothers, I don’t regard myself as yet having taken hold, but one thing I do. Forgetting the things which are behind, and stretching forward to the things which are before, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. -Philippians 3:12-14 (WEB)

A few weeks ago, a co-worker asked me what I had to give up to lose 30 pounds. My response was. . . . . . To read the rest of this article and/or comment on it click this link

The Soul and The Spirit

By: Rev. George Pryor

In the first part of this article I will focus on the first two and unite the three at the end. Many think that there is no difference between the spirit and soul, but there most definitely is. It’s spelled out for us in scripture The “soul” and the “spirit” are similar in the manner in which they are used in the spiritual life of the believer. They are however different in their reference. The “soul” is man’s horizontal view with the world. The “spirit” is man’s vertical view with God. It is important to understand that both refer to the immaterial part of man, but only the “spirit” refers to the man’s walk with God. The “soul” refers to man’s walk in the world, both material and immaterial. . . . . . To read the rest of this article and/or comment on it click this link

Can You Have Hope Without Faith?

By: Steven E Coffman

So many people today are depressed and discouraged because they seem to only focus on their present circumstances. They are constantly dwelling on their problems, what they don’t have, and what’s wrong with them. They don’t seem to realize that they are allowing the enemy to steal their hope. This (negative) frame of mind is what keeps people from moving forward in their life. If you seem mostly focused on what’s wrong, or what’s not working, then it’s time to. . . . We Need Your Strength

By: Joanne Lowe

“Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. Trust ye in the Lord for ever: for in the Lord JEHOVAH is everlasting strength.” Isaiah 26: 3, 4 KJV Heavenly Father, we confess that there are times when we become discouraged and weak. We need Your strength. Thank You that no matter how many obstacles and heartaches come our way, You will keep us in perfect peace if we will only trust You and keep our minds and hearts focused on You. Father, I pray for everyone who is lonely, heartbroken, discouraged and suicidal. Please comfort them and encourage them as only You can. Amen. No matter what is going on in your life today . . . Are You Growing?

By: Joanne Lowe

“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” 2 Timothy 2:15 King James Version My sister received a digital photo frame for Christmas. She brought it over and showed me the pictures she had taken during the Christmas holidays. It was so pretty seeing a picture pause for a couple of minutes and then going to the next picture. I have seen regular photo albums that showed children having a birthday party each year. The children didn’t look the same as they did the previous year. It was easy to see that the older they got, the more they grew. Last night as I was thinking about those pictures, I could see Jesus watching us in a digital photo frame in His heart of unconditional love. I wonder as Jesus looks at each one of us as the photos change if . . . . To read the rest of this article and/or comment on it click this link

A New Heart

By: Joanne Lowe

“A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statues, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.” Ezekiel 36: 26, 27 King James Version For those of you who have not heard, there were thirty two people killed by a gunman a couple of days ago. My first reaction was shock. Then my heart turned to the families and friends of the victims. I felt just a little of the horror and agony they must be feeling. I wondered if they had told the ones that were shot how much they loved them. Had they hugged them and kissed them goodbye when they left home? Did they . . . . A Call to Build the Temple

By: Paul George

Haggai 1: 1 – 15 On the plains of Moab, prior to Israel entering the Promised Land Moses delivered a series of messages that may be considered the constitution of Israel once she was established in the land. The people were facing war, temptations, and a new, settled way of life under the unproved leadership of Joshua. Moses’ congregation was the survivals of the forty years wandering in the wilderness. They had not experienced the deliverance from the hand of the enemy at the Red Sea or the giving of the law at Sinai. Moses warned the people when they entered the Promised Land they must not add to or take away from the commandments and statues of the Lord. Moses told the people. . . . Christian Article Bank | Book Review: Jesus Christ: Self-Denial Or Self-EsteemBy Dr. David Tyler

by Johnny Kicklighter

If one didn’t look at the title of Dr. Tyler’s book, “Jesus Christ: Self-Denial or Self-Esteem,” they might think they were reading a book about the life of Christ instead of a refutation of the self-esteem movement. Dr. Tyler takes a different approach that’s characteristic of some of the other books on critiquing self-esteem. He doesn’t exclusively argue that the self-esteem position is defective from a humanistic psychological approach as Paul Vitz does. Nor does he attempt to contrast each heretical thought and compare it to an exhaustive look at scripture references. Instead, he compares the notion of selfism to the life and practices of Jesus Christ. By so doing, he demonstrates that self-esteem flies directly in the face of what Christ was teaching others, especially His very own disciples. . . .
